Session Details

Sessions are designed to be low-stress and you can expect your session to have a casual and fun atmosphere. I strive to create a relaxed and comfortable setting where I can get to know my clients and create photographic art that truly captures their personality. Soon after booking your session, you will receive information to help you in preparing for your session and wardrobe selections. Our pre-session consultation will highlight any specific goals you have in mind for your session and any preferences you may have regarding colors, prop use, etc. Newborn sessions and sessions with small children will be flexible, with a flow and pace that is comfortable for both mom and child.

My style of editing results in clean, crisp images and samples of my work are included in the Portfolio section of this site. As part of standard image touch-up, skin will be smoothed and blemishes, skin flakes, etc. will be corrected. I happen to love freckles, moles and other “character” marks and will tend to leave these unless directed otherwise.

Within two to three weeks of your session, you will receive an e-mail containing the link and password to your private proofing gallery for viewing and sharing with friends and family. Your gallery will be viewable for 7 days. Print and product orders need to be placed prior to gallery expiration.

Contact me today to inquire about booking your session. I can’t wait to meet you and capture some of your amazing moments!

Maternity session

details

Maternity

We typically photograph expectant mothers 32 to 36 weeks into their pregnancy. This is usually when they have a nice round belly and feel good! Because every mother carries differently and each has their own unique beautiful bump, we suggest calling in the beginning of your second trimester to discuss scheduling your session.

Maternity mini-sessions take place in our private photography studio. Sessions last up to 1 hour and include up to two outfit changes. Spouses, partners and siblings are welcome to participate. As part of your session, you will have access to Magnolia’s selection of maternity gowns to choose from, or if you prefer, you are welcome to bring your own clothing. Magnolia also has a special relationship with a wonderful provider of maternity gowns and accessories and we can help you to acquire your own perfect gown at discounted prices.

Maternity mini-sessions are offered as part of our Maternity/Newborn package. A "sneak peek" of one maternity image will be available about one week after session. Within two to three weeks after your newborn session, your maternity mini-session images and your newborn session images will be posted to your private proofing gallery.

It is never too early to book, so please call early to reserve both your maternity and newborn sessions on our calendar.

Newborn session

details

Newborn

Newborns are best photographed within the first 2 weeks after birth (and preferably days 5 – 10) while baby is still very sleepy and hasn’t yet “uncurled”. Sessions are offered in our Newborn/Child Studio, a cozy, separate structure on our property, where you will have access to our complete collection of wraps, hats, headbands, blankets and props. Newborns are best photographed in the “buff” so no fancy outfits need to be purchased for your session, however, if you have personal blankets, clothing or other props you would like to incorporate into the session, just let me know and feel free to bring them along.

Newborn sessions typically take 2.5 to 3 hours and my style is very relaxed and stress-free. Babies are on their own schedule and our session will allow plenty of time to accommodate the feedings and changing needed to keep both baby and mom happy. To schedule our session, we pick a day/time as best we can based on baby’s due date and then we touch base after baby arrives to firm up our day/time. Soon after your session is scheduled, you will receive additional information on how to prepare for your session.

Newborn sessions are limited and it is important to schedule your session early (preferably in the beginning of your 2nd trimester) so we can be sure to leave room in our calendar for your due date. With 3 children of my own, and my “baby” now almost 16, I can tell you first hand how quickly this special time will pass. They really are “only this little for a little while”. It is such a joy for me to spend time with these “little” ones and it brings me great pleasure to capture these once-in-a-lifetime images for my clients.

baby + cake smash session

details

Baby + Cake Smash

Your child’s first year milestones are amazing and capturing these fleeting moments is something you will treasure for a lifetime. Life with a small child is busy, so I strive to create a low-stress, fun and relaxed atmosphere for Baby and Cake Smash sessions. Small children have a mind of their own and our session will be flexible, with a flow and pace that is comfortable for your child. Baby sessions usually take about an hour, while Cake Smash sessions tend to go a bit longer (1 to 1.5 hours or so), which allows time for a few outfit changes before we do the cake smash at the end. Sessions are offered in our Newborn/Child Studio, a cozy, separate structure on our property, offering the perfect setting for capturing these special images.

For those children who do not have food or laytex allergies, we are happy to provide a complementary cake and balloons for your session.

Outfits for your session can be chosen to really highlight your child’s personality. Bright colors photograph well, and hats, headbands and other unique accessories can add character and interest. Bare-foot babies are pleasing, so no need for fancy shoes, unless of course you have some you would like to bring. The cake part of the Cake Smash session is a blast and most children have a delightful time “interacting” with their cake. For this, slightly messy part of the session, girls look adorable in just a little tutu to cover the diaper (we have an assortment in studio) and possibly a headband or other accessory; and little boys look so cute in just their little jeans/pants/shorts. Plus, less clothing means less can get covered in cake! The studio offers a restroom and changing station for your comfort.

Call early to schedule your child’s session. Soon after booking your session, you will receive additional information on how to prepare for your session.
